New Gouache Painting- Having fun with this black paper. I did the roses on this first and was considering what kind of creatures to add. A friend suggested I look at moths instead of butterflies, in particular the Luna moth. So, it got added and then the beetle and of course, a spider.
My latest endeavor with the black paper! I am so liking this.
I came across a piece of art online of some flowers done on black paper. I’ve tried working on black paper with watercolor and only gotten muted results. But, when I looked the piece of artwork up, it said that she had done it using gouache. So, I gave it another try and I think I am in love with this process! This is my first gouache on black paper. There will definitely be more to come!

New Watercolor – Of Ladies & Dragons
New Watercolor – Woody’s Diner
New Watercolor – Symphony in Blue. The name came from a combination of suggestions from a couple of friends.
I did this one from a piece of art I found online that looked like a challenge. I was told one way to get better is to try and copy the masters. Though I didn’t copy it exactly, I think I did a pretty good job. I know, I’m nowhere near his level of art, but I’m learning!
The artist is Joszi Arpad Koppay (Austro/Hungarian, 1857-1927) Alas, I can’t read any of the journal on him, but there is a pretty nice collection of his work at https://kolybanov.livejournal.com/14459106.html for any interested in looking at it.
